Archive X (The Skin) is a multimedia installation centered around a mysterious piece of skin left at the entrance to a cruising labyrinth, carrying traces and memories of its previous owner.
The work was created by Hollow (Viktor Szeri, Tamás Páll, Gyula Muskovics) in collaboration with textile artist Csenge Vass. It was first presented at Resisting Erasure – Queer Art in Hungary, an exhibition at Art Cologne in 2021, curated by Queer Budapest (Zsuzsanna Zsuró & Thomas Roughan).
In 2022, an expanded version of the work was shown at Studio Gallery in Budapest, where the Hungarian artist duo Lőrinc Borsos, together with their collaborators Eszter Nagy and Ppillovv, responded to Hollow’s work, transforming the gallery into an immersive environment.
The work is part of The Archive series, an ongoing and ever-expanding meta-project in which Hollow’s pre-existing worlds bleed into new ones. The series comprises several interconnected chapters, including Baby and The Beyond.
The Archive also includes an interactive online platform that serves as a repository for Hollow’s speculative database, where its fragments are gathered and continuously expanded, illuminating new pathways and opening portals onto possible realities.
