The Archive
by Hollow 2022
The Archive is an ongoing and ever-expanding meta-project in which Hollow’s (Viktor Szeri, Tamás Páll, Gyula Muskovics) pre-existing worlds bleed into new ones. In other words, it is the larger structure to which the majority of their characters, stories, and landscapes belong. Comprising texts, objects, and performances, The Archive traces hidden connections between Hollow’s invented worlds and the realities from which they emerge.
The stories that unfold from the time capsules stored in The Archive revolve around questions such as the inaccessibility of the future and the ways in which predictions and speculations shape the present. By revealing background stories and materials produced during the development of their works, Hollow also draws attention to the unseen dimensions of artistic production, including the often invisible labor involved in bringing an art project into being.
The Archive comprises different chapters (see, for example, The Beyond or The Skin), each of which takes on various physical and/or virtual forms. This interactive online platform serves as a repository for Hollow’s speculative database, where its fragments are gathered and continuously expanded, illuminating new pathways and opening portals to potential realities. In this way, The Archive creates bridges between the existing world and what lies beyond the horizon.
